One of Warnes Projects chosen charities for 2019 is Home-Start (Arun, Worthing and Adur) who believe the best start in life for a child begins at home, with their family.
We were recently able to donate chairs, desks and a meeting table through our recycling and repurposing initiative. A recent thank you from Home-Start Manager, Bridget Richardson, was most appreciated: “I wanted to say a more formal thank you on behalf of Home-Start. You may think your support is ‘small deeds’ but please don’t underestimate how much this helps us focus our limited funds on the core work with our families. Your donation has made a huge difference to the working environment of our small team. It really does take the pressure off when someone knocks on your door with an offer of support.”
Home-Start volunteers work with families in their own homes to help them cope when times get tough. Recognising that being a parent isn’t always easy, whatever your circumstances, when a mum or dad with a child under five is finding things difficult they can ask Home-Start for help. There are many reasons why parents may need support ranging from special needs issues and relationship difficulties to lone parenting and coping with bereavement.
Volunteers are from different backgrounds and vary in age but all have parenting experience, offer a practical approach, understanding and provide a completely confidential service.
